Sunday Times Teaser 2774 – Loaded Dice
by Ian Kay
I have two standard dice, only one of which is fair. In the unfair die a six will be thrown more than half the time while the other scores are all equally likely.
I threw both dice and found that the chance of getting the total that resulted was double what it would have been with two fair dice.
As a simple fraction, what is the chance of getting a six with the unfair die?
